Hundschupfen

Riede in the north of the municipality of Mailberg in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Weinviertel. The name has nothing to do with a dog, but is a corruption of an old name. The south-facing vineyards cover 20 hectares of vines on light and permeable sandy soils. There is a special microclimate with sometimes extreme temperature differences between summer and winter. Mainly Grüner Veltliner and Riesling are cultivated here. Shares in the vineyard are held, for example, by the wineries Hagn Wolfgang, Schlossweingut Malteser Ritterorden and Zens Josef.
