The winery is located in the municipality of Horrweiler ( Bingen area) in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. It has been in the family since 1848. In 1960, Ernst and Gudrun Doll took over the mixed agricultural business and converted it to viticulture and bottled wine marketing. Since 2002, it has been run by their son Ulrich Doll, after the trained viticultural technician had already been responsible for the cellar since the 2000 vintage. The vineyards cover eight hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Gewürzgärtchen and Goldberg (Horrweiler). The vineyards are 75% planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Silvaner, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Scheurebe, Müller-Thurgau and Kerner, and 25% with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, Blauer Portugieser and St. Laurent. Natural viticulture is practised. The wines are predominantly dry and sweet/fruity. Wines of outstanding quality are bottled separately and marketed under the name "Prestige".
