The winery is located in the municipality of Vogtsburg-Bickensohl (Kaiserstuhl area) in the German wine-growing region of Baden. It was founded in 2001 by Holger Koch and Gabriele Engesser. The family has been growing grapes in Bickensohl for many generations, since 1923 as a supplier of grapes to the local winegrowers' cooperative. In 2008, the construction of a new wine cellar and residential building was completed. In 2017, a new wine storage facility for barrel ageing and bottle maturation was put into operation. Since 2008, the heating has been done with a groundwater heat pump and the cooling of the wine cellar. In 2018, a large photovoltaic system was put into operation and rainwater was stored for artificial irrigation.
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
