The winery is located in the municipality of Leutesdorf in the German Mittelrhein wine growing region. In 1638 the village teacher Jakob Hohn came to Leutesdorf from the vicinity of Linz a. Rh. and started to cultivate wine. After his training as a viticultural technician in Bad Kreuznach and a one-year internship at Bridgeview Vineyards in the US state of Oregon, the company has been managed by Peter Hohn in the 12th generation since 1991. The vineyards cover 4.5 hectares of vineyard in the Leutesdorfer Gartenlay location. They are 80% planted with Riesling, as well as the varieties Kerner, Pinot Noir, Blauer Portugieser and Dornfelder. The quality criteria are restrained pruning, intensive foliage work, timely plant protection, thinning out of the grapes, late harvest by hand, gentle pressing, strong must pre-clarification, slow fermentation in small stainless steel tanks, storage on fine yeast, natural clarification of the young wines and a unique filtration. There are three product lines: wines by the glass, upscale quality wines and wines to be enjoyed with an artist's label. The latter wines in the dry area are called "S" (after daughter Sarah), in the semi-dry area "J" (after son Johannes), from late vintage onwards the classical predicate designations are used. In addition, wines are created under the name "Inspiration" in a joint venture with the Gotthard Emmerich Winery.
