The British nurseryman and botanist Robert Hogg (1818-1897) was the author of "British Pomology" (1851) and "The Fruit Manual" (1860). The latter also describes grape varieties. He was also a regular contributor to the monthly magazine "The Florist and Pomologist: A Pictorial Monthly Magazine of Flowers, Fruits and General Horticulture". The variety Muscat Dr. Hogg was named in his honour.
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
