The winery is located in the municipality of Deutschkreutz in the Austrian wine-growing region of Mittelburgenland. The family has been growing grapes for generations. Today, the winery is run by Johann and Maria Hofstädter. The vineyards cover five hectares of vineyards on the south-eastern slopes of the Ödenburger Mountains. They are 80% planted with the red wine varieties Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, and 20% with the white wine varieties Welschriesling, Grüner Veltliner and Chardonnay. In the vineyards, there is a conscious reduction in quantity with yield reduction through thinning out. By using modern cellar technology, the aim is to vinify pure and durable wines. These are matured in stainless steel tanks, in large wooden bar rels or in barriques. The premium wines include Mittelburgenland DAC (Blaufränkisch) and the red wine cuvée Apollo (all five varieties). In years with suitable weather conditions, ice wines are also produced. The winery is a member of the Blaufränkischland Mittelburgenland Association.
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
