The winery is located in the municipality of Ipsheim (Steigerwald area) in the German wine-growing region of Franconia. It is run by Helmut and Bernd Hofmann. The vineyards cover 15 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Burg Hoheneck (Ipsheim), Rosenberg (Bad Windsheim) and Roter Berg (Weimersheim). They are planted with the white wine varieties Silvaner, Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, Scheurebe, Kerner, Johanniter and Pinot Blanc, as well as with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Dornfelder and Dominma. The wines are produced in the classes "L" (litre), "J" (young wines), "F" (fine fruity wines) and "S" (selective top). In years with suitable weather conditions, Esi wines are also pressed. The white wines are fermented cooled in stainless steel tanks and stored on their lees until March of the following year. Selected red wines are aged in barriques. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines, noble brandies and liqueurs are also produced.
