The winery is located in the municipality of Hohenwarth in the south-west of the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Weinviertel. It is run by Petra and Leopold Hofbauer-Schmidt, already the sixth generation of the family. Guest rooms are attached. The vineyards cover 14 hectares of vineyards in the Berg, Böndl, Hintaus, Hochstraß, Kögl, Lehen, Mühlweg, Rennweg, Satzgraben and Waidenthal vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Blanc, Roter Veltliner, Riesling and Grüner Sylvaner, as well as with the red wine varieties Zweigelt and Blauburger. Natural, environmentally friendly viticulture is consistently practised according to ecological guidelines with, for example, the use of predatory mites for pest control. In the period from the end of October to the beginning of June, the soil is not worked in order not to disturb the vineyard fauna and flora and to prevent humus depletion and erosion. The selective grape harvest is done exclusively by hand. In order to exploit the principle of gravity, the press house was built on three levels. Due to the short distances and the quick and clean processing, there is no need for any sulphurisation of the mash and the must.

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
