The winery is located in the municipality of Oestrich-Winkel in the German Rheingau wine growing region. The family has been involved in winegrowing since the 17th century. In 1860 Johann Hirschmann acquired the historic estate house, in whose old vaulted cellar the wines are still being matured today. The new cellar construction in 2007 created space for modern viticulture technology next to it. Today the estate is managed by Christoph and Gabriele Hirschmann. The vineyards comprise six hectares of vineyards in the locations Doosberg, Klosterberg and Lenchen (Oestrich), Gutenberg and Hasensprung (Winkel), as well as Edelmann (Mittelheim). They are mainly planted with Riesling and some Pinot Noir. The Rieslings are matured in steel tanks, the Pinot Noir in large wooden barrels. In suitable years also Beerenauslesen and ice wines are pressed. Also bottle-fermented Riesling sparkling wines and Riesling brandy are produced.
