High Harald

The winery is located in the municipality of Hollenburg in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region Kremstal. The traditional family name Hoch was first mentioned in 1640. Since 2001 the estate has been managed by Harald and Andrea Hoch. Their son Christoph is responsible for the quality of the wines as cellar master, he is also responsible for international sales. The vineyards comprise 14 hectares of vineyards in the areas of Blauer Berg, Kleedorf, Kogl and Steingarten. They are 90% planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Gelber Muskateller, Pinot Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, and 10% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Blauer Portugieser, St. Laurent and Blauburger. Quality criteria are targeted pruning and careful soil cultivation. The white wines are matured in steel tanks in a fruity manner typical for the variety. The red wines mature in wooden barrels or in barriques. The flagship of the house is the Kremstal DAC Reserve "Danubius" (Grüner Veltliner), for which only the ripest, most extract-rich and best grapes of the Blauer Berg reed, obtained with up to six selective harvests, are used. Other premium wines are various Rieslings and Grüner Veltliner Kremstal DAC. Fine brandies, fruit juices and jam are also produced.
