The white grape variety is an open-pollinated seedling of the Delaware variety. It contains genes from Vitis aestivalis, Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was selected in the USA in 1870 by the private breeder Willis W. Jones. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
