Hermannschachern

Very well-known vineyard (site) near the municipality of Poysdorf in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Weinviertel, which also appears on labels as "Hörmannschachern". The very old vineyard was first mentioned in a document in 1338. It is 250 metres above sea level, faces south and has heavy clay soils with gravel and a high proportion of lime. The main varieties cultivated are Chardonnay, Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, but also red wine varieties. One attraction is the "Hermannschachern" wine panorama path or wine educational trail with information boards. The wineries Schuckert Rainer and Taubenschuss Helmut, for example, have shares in the vineyard.
