The "Wein-und Sektgut Heinz Bus & Sohn" is located in the community of Insheim (area Südliche Weinstraße) in the German wine growing region of the Palatinate
. The history of the traditional family business goes back to the late 16th century. Today it is managed in the 7th generation by Carsten Bus. The vineyards cover 40 hectares of vineyards in the single vineyard Schäfergarten (Insheim). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus and Ortega, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, St. Laurent, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot
The environmentally friendly cultivation is carried out in the traditional way. The ecological
balance is promoted by green slopes. The reduced-yield grape material is gently pressed, followed by slow fermentation with natural yeasts. Depending on the type of wine, the wines are aged in steel tanks, wooden barrels or barriques, while the base wines
for sparkling wines
are aged on the yeast for up to 24 months after bottle fermentation. These are for example Pinot Blanc, Dornfelder and Riesling. A "Bussecco" (sparkling wine) is also produced.
