Heiderer-Mayer

The winery is located in the community of Baumgarten am Wagram (cadastral community of Großweikersdorf) in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Wagram. It has been in family ownership since 1844. Since 1990 the business has been run by Helmut and Gabriele Mayer, supported by their sons Stefan and Reinhard. The vineyards comprise 15 hectares of vines in, for example, the Bergthal and Draxelgraben vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Welschriesling, Muskateller, Roter Veltliner, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as the red wine varieties Zweigelt, St. Laurent and Cabernet Sauvignon. We practice natural viticulture according to ecological aspects. Depending on the type of wine, the wines are matured in steel tanks or in barriques. Among the premium wines are "Grüner Veltliner Premium", "Grüner Veltliner Wagramer Selektion", Zweigelt limited, as well as the red wine cuvée "Legat" (Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon), which is aged in barrique. A Frizzante "Esprit" is also produced. The winery is a member of the Wine Growers' Association Wagramer Selektion and the European Wine Knights' Association.
