The winery is located in the municipality of St. Nikolai im Sausal on the Flamberg in the Austrian wine-growing region of southern Styria. It was founded in 1926 by Franz Harkamp through the purchase of a plot of land with an inn and one hectare of vineyard. Attached are a restaurant and the "Weingartenhotel". Since 1990, the business has been run by Hannes and Petra Harkamp. The vineyards cover 16 hectares in the Flamberg (single vineyard Oberburgstall) and Kogelberg (single vineyard Rosenberg) sites. They are 90% planted with the white wine varieties Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Welschriesling, Morillon, Gelber Muskateller, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, as well as the red wine varieties Zweigelt and Merlot. Grapes are purchased from long-term contractual partners.
