The winery is located in the municipality of Auer (Ora) in the Italian wine-growing region of South Tyrol ( Trentino-Alto Adige region). The origin goes back to the early 17th century. The name derives from a former owner family Happacher. After a chequered history, the estate of about 16 hectares was purchased by the South Tyrolean government in 1983 and made available to the secondary school for agriculture in Auer as a training farm. The director is Dr. Franz Tutzer, the cellar master is Bernhard Pichler. All South Tyrolean grape varieties are kept in a varietal quarter, and the various common forms of cultivation are also found here. The varieties Merlot, Lagrein, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are cultivated on a larger scale on four hectares. The Lagrein vineyard is cultivated according to the Bioland guidelines and is certified accordingly. The remaining area is cultivated according to the KIP/IP criteria (integrated pest management). The wines are produced as DOC South Tyrolean.
