Hanten Christa

The Austrian wine expert Dr Christa Hanten (*1954) was born in the Weinviertel, grew up in Langenlois and was schooled in Krems, so in her own words "the connection to wine was pre-programmed". Her studies of German language and literature and economic history at the university Wien were completed with a dissertation on organisation and marketing in viticulture. After "wandering years" in libraries and publishing houses, the decision was made in 1993 to become self-employed, with a focus on text and media design in the (wine)culinary field. Christa Hanten works as a specialist editor, writer and wine critic. After many years on the Salon Österreichischer Wein jury, she now works for Best of Riesling and in her special field of organic wines (e.g. jury member for the International Organic Wine Award).

Sigi Hiss

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
