The winery is located in the community of Piesport in the German Moselle wine region. The traditional family has been growing wine here since 1337. The Reinhold Haart Winery was founded in the early 1920s by sharing the inheritance of the great Josef Haart Winery between the seven siblings. Josef Haart's vineyards were marked with yellow-coloured terracotta stakes (stakes at each end of the vineyard) at the upper end, which were yellow at the upper end. After the division of the inheritance, each child was given a colour to mark their inherited vineyards. Haart Reinhold got yellow-red, Haart Johann yellow-blue and so on. Today the business is run by Edith and Theo Haart, who are supported by their son Johannes. The vineyards cover 7.5 hectares in the individual locations Domherr, Goldtröpfchen, Grafenberg and in the sole possession Kreuzwingert (Piesport), as well as Ohligsberg (Wintrich). They are planted 100% with Riesling. Great attention is paid to careful vineyard care, defoliation of the grape zone and thinning out with a resulting reduced yield of 50 hl/ha on average. The wines are fermented cool and slowly with natural yeasts. The aim is to produce fruit-sweet wines with a potential for ageing and maturing over decades. The winery is a member of the VDP.
