The winery is situated on a hill in the municipality of Schönberg in the Lower Austrian wine growing region of Kamptal. The traditional family has been growing wine here for many generations. Today, after years of apprenticeship with Franz Hirtzberger (Spitz/Danube) and Ernst Triebaumer (Rust), the winery is managed by Matthias Hager. The restaurant "Weinbeisserei" is managed by Hermann Hager. The vineyards comprise 14 hectares of vines in the areas of Hiesberg, Schönberg and Seeberg. They are 70% with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Gelber Muskateller, Early red VeltlinerPinot Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, and 30% of the red wine varieties Zweigelt,Pinot Noir, Blauburger and St. Laurent. Some of them are also cultivated as mixed set. For some time now, the vineyards have been cultivated in a natural, organic manner and, from the 2010 vintage onwards, according to certified biodynamic guidelines.
