The winery is located in the municipality of Neumarkt (Egna) in the Italian wine-growing region of South Tyrol (Trentino-South Tyrol). The traditional winery was founded in 1840 by Alois H. Lun. He is considered a pioneer in the marketing of bottled wine, because from the very beginning, only bottled wines were marketed. At that time, selected barrels were purchased for vinification. In 1976 the Bracchetti family took over the business. Finally, in 1998, it became the property of the Girlan Winery, but is still run as an independent company. The managing director is Zeno Staffler, the cellar master is Gerhard Kofler. The vineyards comprise 30 hectares of vineyards planted with the white wine varietiesPinot Blanc, Chardonnay, PinotGrigio, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Goldmuskateller, Müller-Thurgau and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as the red wine varieties Lagrein, Vernatsch(Schiava Grossa),Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Rosenmuskateller. The wines are divided into two quality levels, the classic 1840 line and the Sandbichler selection line (strictest selection from the best sites) and are mostly produced as DOC Kalterersee, St. Magdalener and Südtiroler.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
