Gulf of Tigullio-Portofino

DOC area (also Portofino) for red wines, rosé wines and white wines in the Italian region of Liguria The zone includes the hills around Genoa with the municipalities of Avegno, Bargagli, Bogliasco, Borzonasca, Camogli, Carasco, Casarza Ligure, Castiglione Chiavarese, Chiavari, Cicagna, Cogorno, Coreglia Ligure; Davagna, Favale di Malvaro, Lavagna, Leivi, Lumarzo, Mezzanego, Moneglia, Ne, Neirone, Orero, Pieve Ligure, Portofino, Rapallo, Recco, San Colombano Certenoli, Santa Margherita Ligure, Sestri Levante, Sori, Tribogna, Uscio and Zoagli, and parts of Genoa (Exactly), Lorsica and Moconesi in the Province of Genoa. Viticulture reached great importance here under the auspices of the Benedictine Order in the late Middle Ages, from the 13th century onwards

The pure variety wines must contain at least 85%, in the case of Moscato 100% of the respective variety, for the remaining 15% other approved varieties may be used. These are the white wines Bianchetta Genovese = Albarola, Moscato = Muscat Blanc (also as Passito), Scimiscià or Çimixâ and Vermentino, and the red wine Ciliegiolo (also as Novello)

The Bianco (also known as Passito and Spumante) is obtained by blending Vermentino and/or Bianchetta Genovese (60%), as well as other authorised varieties (max. 40%). The two wine types Rosso (also as Novello) and Rosato are produced from Ciliegiolo and/or Dolcetto (zum. 60%), as well as other approved varieties (max. 40%). A Frizzante (sparkling wine) there are the wine types Bianco, Rosso, Rosato, Bianchetta Genovese, Vermentino and Ciliegiolo

The Costa dei Fieschi subzone includes the municipalities of Camogli, Chiavari, Lavagna, Moneglia, Portofino, Rapallo, Santa Margherita Ligure, Sestri Levante and Zoagli. With this additional designation on the label there are the wine types Bianco (also as Passito and Spumante), Rosso, Rosato, Moscato and Moscato Passito with the same regulations as the above mentioned wines.
