The family name Gsellmann is quite common in the Burgenland community of Gols and there are several wineries of this name. Johann Gsellmann is considered one of the winegrowing pioneers in the community. Early on he specialized in viticulture and founded a winery in 1954. As a wine sensory and wine commissioner (trader) he recognized the signs of the times and started planting red wine vines and bottling already in the early 1960s. Of his four children (Renate, Ingrid, Hans and Matthias) the two sons Hans and Matthias followed in his footsteps, specialized in quality viticulture and founded the wine brand "Gsellmann & Gsellmann" in the mid-1980s. Although the two sons owned their own vineyards, they vinified wines together and sold them under a common brand. After more than 20 years of cooperation, they separated at the end of 2005. From "Gsellmann & Gsellmann" the two independent wineries Gsellmann Matthias and Gsellmann Andreas emerged from the beginning of 2006.
The Wine lexicon helps me to keep up to date and refresh my knowledge. Thank you for this Lexicon that will never end in terms of topicality! That's what makes it so exciting to come back often.
