The winery, also known as "Grabengritsch", is located in the municipality of Vießling near Spitz on the Danube in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Wachau. A wine tavern is attached. The organisation of events is also offered, as well as tastings, vineyard walks or cellar tours. The winery is run by Josef Gritsch. The steeply terraced vineyards cover six hectares of vineyards on primary rock soils in the Spitzer Graben in the Bruck, Panoramaweg, Schaffenfeld, Schön, Setzäcker and Setzberg sites. 90% of the vineyards are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Neuburger, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer and Gelber Muskateller, the rest with the red wine varieties Zweigelt and St. Laur ent. Some of the vines are over 50 years old. The vineyard work is carried out according to ecological principles with optimisation of soil life and minimal use of chemical treatments.

In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
