The white grape variety (also Garusot Gris) is an interspecific new breeding between Sylvaner (Silvaner) x Solonis. It contains genes from Vitis riparia and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in France by the breeder Eugène Kuhlmann (1858-1932) at the Oberlin Institute in Colmar-Alsace. No stock was recorded in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
