Gravitas

The New Zealand vineyard "Gravitas Saint Arnaud's Vineyard" is located next to Saint Arnaud in the Wairau Valley in the Marlborough area (South Island). It is owned by Martyn and Pamela Nicholls. Martyn is a career changer from the banking industry. The winery is considered an absolute up-and-comer and is celebrated with descriptions like "A star is born". All 80,000 vines are registered by computer. Extremely low yields of only 25 to 30 hectolitres per hectare are used. Outstanding is the Sauvignon Blanc produced in yeast storage. Other varieties are Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Noir. A Vin de paille (straw wine) is also produced from Sauvignon Blanc and sparkling wine.
