Grafenwörth

Well-known wine-growing community in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Wagram just 15 kilometres east of the city of Krems. The Baroque painter Martin Johann Schmidt (1718-1801), who became famous under the name "Kremser Schmidt", was born in Grafenwörth (there are pictures of him in the churches of Grafenwörth and Feuersbrunn). The large municipality of Grafenwörth includes the cadastral communities of Feuersbrunn, Jettsdorf, Seebarn, St. Johann and Wagram. Feuersbrunn is home to the "Weingartenstöckl", Austria's smallest viticulture museum, where, among other things, the first vine shears invented by Franz Zelenka from Feuersbrunn are on display. The best-known vineyards (sites) are Am Berg, Brenner, Holzweg, Kirchtal, Kellerweingarten, Lanner, Nussberg, Rosenberg, Roter Graben, Spiegel and Storz. Well-known wineries in the large municipality are, for example, Bauer Anton, Bauer Josef, Polsterer Andreas, Ott Bernhard and Reinberger Alfred.
