Gosen

The red grape variety (also Rigotti 123-4) is a new breeding between Carmenère x Teroldego. In a DNA analysis carried out in 2000, the parentage Cabernet Franc x Marzemino given in the breeding list turned out to be wrong. However, this is based on only eight DNA markers (see Molecular Genetics). The cross was made in 1950 by the Italian botanist Rebo Rigotti at the viticultural institute San Michele all'Adige ( Trentino-South Tyrol region). The medium to late ripening vine is generally resistant to fungal diseases. The variety is grown in small quantities in the province of Lecce in Apulia. In 2016, 0.1 hectares of vines were reported (Kym Anderson statistics).

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
