The white grape variety comes from Moldova. There are over 60 synonyms, which suggests that the vine is very old. Some of them are Alemcak, Boskokvi, Boskokwi, Gordan, Gordan de Dragasani, Gordin de Dealul Mare, Gordin din Dealul Mare, Gordin Galben, Gordin Galbin, Gordin Galbin Zheltyi, Gordin Gyurgunat, Gordin Marunt, Gordinul, Ichel and Krimskii Belyi. The parentage (parenthood) is unknown. The variety was a crossing partner in the new breeding of the splendid grape. No stock was reported in 2010 (Kym Anderson).
