Golubok

The red grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Severny x(Alicante Henri Bouschet x Cabernet Sauvignon). Synonyms are Goloubok, Goluboc, Golubon and Golubuk. Genes of Vitis amurensis and Vitis vinifera are included. The hybrid was crossed in Odessa in 1958 by the breeders P. K. Ayvazyan and E. N. Dokuchaeva. The plant variety protection was granted in 1981. The early to medium ripening vine is moderately susceptible to powdery mildew and botrytis, but resistant to frost down to minus 25 °Celsius. It produces dark-coloured, tannin-rich red wines with aromas of cassis and dried fruits. The variety is grown in Moldova, Russia (37 ha), the Czech Republic, Ukraine and the US state of Iowa. In 2016, however, only the stock in Russia was reported (statistics Kym Anderson)
