Goldberg (Einzellage Deutschland)

Common name for single vineyard sites in Germany in over 30 municipalities in 7 growing regions. However, the name has nothing to do with a possible earlier occurrence of this precious metal, but indicates the excellent quality of the wines grown there, the rewarding abundance of yields or the yellowish glittering soil type (mica schist). There are also many vineyards in Austria with the name Goldberg.
