The white grape variety is a new breeding between Riesling x Précoce de Malingre. However, this parentage was only revealed according to DNA analyses published in 2013, because the father variety Muscat Précoce de Saumur indicated by the breeder was not confirmed. It should be noted that in another DNA analysis the paternity could not be identified. Synonyms are French grape, Yellow Riesling, Gold Muscat, Muscat de Colmar; Riesling Doré, Risling Khativ and Risling Zolotistyi. The cross was made in 1893 in Colmar-Alsace by the breeder Christian Oberlin (1831-1915).

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
