Gold capsule

A term used by a number of wineries, especially in the German wine-growing regions of Rheingau, Mosel and Pfalz, for noble sweet Prädikat wines such as Beerenauslese or Trockenbeerenauslese. These are usually small quantities of special quality that are not officially sold on the price list, but are only offered at auctions. They can be recognised by a gold-coloured capsule above the cork.

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
