Goecseji Zamatos

The white grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Eger 1 x Médoc Noir (Menoir). Synonyms are Cocseji, Egri Csillagok 34, Gocseji Zamatos, Goedseyi Zamatos and Savourex de Gocsej. Genes of Vitis berlandieri, Vitis labrusca, Vitis lincecumii, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera are included. The hybrid was crossed in 1957 in Hungary by József Csizmazia and Laszlo Bereznai. It is used as a grape variety and table grape. The variety is grown on 10 hectares in Hungary and 40 hectares in Russia. In 2016, 50 hectares of vineyard were designated (Kym Anderson).
