Godet Frères

The Dutchman Augustin Godet settled in Marennes on the Atlantic coast in 1600 and exported salt and brandy to Holland (buyer of Brandewijn) and England. In 1638, he founded the Cognac House and laid down three principles: 1) to respect the nobility of the Grande Champagne region, 2) to let the distillates mature for a long time and 3) to assemble them to perfection. Today, the family-owned Champagne house based in La Rochelle still adheres to these principles and exports its cognac to around 50 countries worldwide. The product range of mostly older qualities includes the "Cuvée Jean Godet", the VSOP "Gastronome Fine Champagne", the VSOP "Selection", the Napoleon "Excellence" as well as the flagships "Grande Fine Champagne Extra vieille" and the special bottling "150th Anniversary 1838-1988". Original bottles in the form of decanters, a Napoleon statue and a porcelain anchor are offered.
