The winery is located in the community of Purbach in the Burgenland DAC area of Leithaberg (Austria). Since 1987, it has been managed by Bert Gmeiner, who realized his life's dream as a career changer. He is supported by his sons Alexander and Peter. In 2002, a newly built cellar building with the latest technology and a tasting room were put into operation. The vineyards comprise 20 hectares of vines. They are planted to 70% with the red wine varieties Blaufränkisch, Rotburger (Zweigelt), Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, and 30% with the white wine varieties Welschriesling, Pinot Blanc, Neuburger, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The yield is limited by measures such as short pruning and thinning out. Depending on the type, the wines are aged in steel tanks, large wooden barrels or barriques. The premium wines include Blaufränkisch Antiquum, Leithaberg Muschelkalk (Chardonnay) and Cabernet Sauvignon. In years with suitable weather conditions, sweet wines are also pressed. Fine brandies are also produced. The winery is a member of the Leithaberg and Vinology wine associations.

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
