Riede (also Gemärk, Gmerk or Gemerk) in the municipality of Rust in the Leithaberg wine-growing region (Burgenland, Austria). The name is derived from Gemarkung (Gemärk = border), because the Riede lies on the border to the municipality of Oggau. The southeast-facing vineyards with slopes of up to 9 degrees are situated at an altitude of 117 to 142 metres above sea level and cover 34 hectares. The upper part is dominated by soils on gneiss with calcareous loam and sand. In the lower part there are deep loam and humus soils. In the vineyard, the white wine varieties Chardonnay, Traminer, Pinot Blanc and Welschriesling, as well as the red wine varieties Blaufränkisch and Merlot are cultivated. Shares have e. g. The wineries Giefing Erich, Hillinger, Kraft Harald, Schröck Heidi, Triebaumer Ernst, Triebaumer Günter and Weinmanufaktur Follner.
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
