Gill

Old Anglo-American unit of measurement for liquids with the volume of 0.142 litres in England and 0.118 in the USA. One gallon consists of 32 gills, 16 cups, 8 pints and 4 quarts. British bars used to serve brandy in quantities of 1/6 gill, which was equivalent to about 2.3 cl. See also under Gill sizes.
