The winery is located in the municipality of Birkweiler (Südliche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz. The winery was established by Franz and Ulrike Gies in 1976. Since 1999, it has been run by the fourth generation of the family, Volker Gies, who trained as a viticultural technician. From the tasting room you can enjoy an impressive panoramic view of the majority of the vineyards. These cover 22 hectares of vineyards in the single vineyards Kastanienbusch, Mandelberg and Rosenberg (Birkweiler), Seligmacher (Ranschbach), Latt (Albersweiler), Kalmit (Ilbesheim), and Im Sonnenschein (Siebeldingen).
