The white grape variety (also GF-GA 48-12) is an interspecific new breeding between Bacchus x Seyve-Villard 12-375 (Villard Blanc). It contains genes from Vitis berlandieri, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1964 by Dr. Gerhardt Alleweldt (1927-2005) at the Institut für Rebenzüchtung Geilweilerhof (Siebeldingen Pfalz, Germany). It is cultivated in small quantities in the two Swiss cantons of Schaffhausen and Thurgau. In 2016, 1.1 hectares of vines were reported in Switzerland (Kym Anderson statistics).
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
