The outdated term for wet sugaring is named after its inventor, the German chemist Ludwig Gall ( 1791-1863 ). In contrast, dry sugaring is mostly named after the French chemist Jean-Antoine Chaptal Jean-AntoineChaptal (1756-1832). See also under enrichment.
