Gallizzone

The red grape variety originates from Italy. Synonyms are Galiziona and Gallazone. The origin (parentage) is unknown. The early ripening vine was first mentioned in the 19th century. It is used as a winepress and table grape. The variety is cultivated in small stocks in the provinces of Lucca and Massa-Carrara in Tuscany, as well as in the province of La Spezia in Liguria. However, no stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
