The red grape variety (also Freiburg 550-91 R, Galanth) is an interspecific new variety between Solaris x Muscat Bleu. The hybrid was crossed in 1991 at the State Viticulture Institute in Freiburg (Baden-Württemberg) by Norbert Becker (1937-2012). The early maturing vine is very resistant to frost and both types of mildew. It has large, loose berries of red-blue/black colour and is used as a table grape. The Garantos and Osella varieties were created with the same parents.
