The winery is located in the municipality of Winningen (Burg Cochem area) in the German wine-growing region of Mosel. The family's wine-growing tradition dates back to 1642. The estate, which traded under "Gebrüder Knebel", was divided among family members in 1989. With his wife Beate, Reinhard Knebel (+2004) took over a 1.7 hectare share. After his studies in Geisenheim and practical experiences at renowned wineries, son Matthias Knebel is responsible. Today, the vineyards cover almost seven hectares. The largest part is located in the extremely steep Röttgen site. Here, Riesling vines, some of which are 40 years old, are planted in the traditional single-pole method. The rest is spread over the Bruckstück, Hamm and Uhlen vineyards
