Furstentum

One of the Alsace (Haut-Rhin) sites classified as Grand Cru within the Alsace Grand Cru appellation. It was already mentioned in the wine inventory books of the monastery of Basel in 1330. The vineyards cover 31 hectares of vines on stony, calcareous soil in the two municipalities of Kientzheim and Sigolsheim. They are planted with the varieties Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris. Well-known producers are André Blanck, Paul Blanck, René Fleith-Eschard et Fils, Joseph Fritsch and Albert Mann.
