single vineyard in the two municipalities of Bad Dürkheim and Wachenheim (Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz. The Bad Dürkheim part, with the "Kaffemühlchen" observation tower built in 1854, is located in the upper part, while the lower-lying Wachenheim part forms the train of the coat, so to speak. The south to south-east facing vineyards at 150 to 220 metres above sea level with slopes of 5 to 15% cover 33 hectares of vines. The calcareous loamy soils are characterised by more red sandstone with clay in the upper area. The main varieties cultivated here are Riesling and Silvaner. The producers Castel Peter, Fitz-Ritter, Gebrüder Bart, Schaefer Karl, members of Wachtenburg Winzer, Wegner Joachim and Zimmermann Emil, for example, have shares in the site.
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
