Frumoasa Alba

This white grape variety is a new cross between Guzal Kara x Muscat de St. Vallier Blanc. Synonyms are Beautiful White, Frumoasa Albe, Fruomasa Albe and XI-56-42. The cross was made in 1973 in Moldova by the breeders Nicolae I. Guzun, M. V. Tsypko and F. A. Olar. The medium-early ripening, frost-hardy vine is characterised by low-seeded, loose-berried grapes with a muscat note and aromas of pineapple. It is used as a wine press and table grape. In 2016, eight hectares of vineyards were designated in Moldova (Kym Anderson statistics).
