Colloquial term for wines with a certain amount of residual sugar (residual sweetness), which in Germany is mostly used for sweet Prädikat wines, such as Spätlese, Beerenauslese or Trockenbeerenauslese. Nevertheless, it can also be dry or semi-dry wines. However, the term has no meaning in wine law; see also under fruity and natural sweet.
