DOC area for red wine in the Italian region of Piedmont. The zone covers 75 hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Andezeno, Arignano, Baldissero Torinese, Chieri, Marentino, Mombello di Torino, Montaldo Torinese, Moriondo Torinese, Pavarolo, Pecetto Torinese, Pino Torinese, Riva presso Chieri and Torino in the province of Torino. If the grapes come from classified vineyards, Vigna may be indicated followed by the vineyard name. This applies, for example, to the "Royal Vineyard" of just under one hectare called Villa della Reg ina (DOC Freisa di Chieri Vigna Villa della Regina) in the heart of the city of Torino. The red wine must contain at least 90% Freisa (also called Freisa di Chieri here), up to a maximum of 15% can be other authorised varieties. There is also a Superiore, which is stronger in alcohol, as well as a Frizzante and Spumante.
