One of the Alsace (Bas-Rhin) sites classified as Grand Cru within the Alsace Grand Cru appellation. It was already highly sought after in the Middle Ages and was then successively owned by numerous dioceses and abbeys. The vineyards cover 56 hectares of vineyards on granite soil in the commune of Dambach-la-Ville. They are particularly suitable for the Riesling and Gewürztraminer varieties. Well-known producers are Yvette & Michel Beck-Hartweg, J. Hauller et Fils, Pierre Kirschner et Fils and Schaeffer-Woerly.
