Description for the smell and flavour of a wine in the context of a wine evaluation or wine talk. Fruity impressions are predominantly perceived olfactorily(odour), sometimes also gustatorily(taste) and rarely (with intense citrus notes) also slightly trigeminally(sense of touch). It describes the richness of the flavour of a wine made from healthy, physiologically ripe grapes and matured accordingly.

Definition of the term

Fruity is a subset of the superordinate term aromatic and describes impressions that are reminiscent of fresh, ripe or dried fruit. Fruity aroma components are clearly distinguished from floral (floral), fragrant (delicate, delicate) and spicy (herbal and spicy) notes. The impressions are reminiscent of fruit, fruit peel or fruit juice and thus differ from floral or spicy expressions.
